ROCHDALE have secured their Betfred Championship safety for another season with a stunning 32-22 away win over Sheffield - and sent Swinton into an extraordinary play-off to avoid relegation.

In Alan Kilshaw's final match as coach, Hornets bounced back from conceding a try after just two minutes to get the next three through Toby Adamson, Deon Cross and Lee Mitchell, giving them a 16-6 lead at the break.

The second half went score for score, Jack Fox, Jo Taira and Tyler Whittaker touching down to guarantee safety for Rochdale.

It comes at the expense of SWINTON, who found themselves on the wrong end of a 40-6 scoreline at Batley. The Bulldogs opened the scoring after six minutes and although Aaron Hall hit back and levelled for the Lions 10 minutes later, that was as good as it got for Stuart Littler's team. …
