Lingard Still Plagued by World Cup Strain

JESSE Lingard has missed United's recent matches with an injury he has carried since the World Cup.

The 25-year-old was left out of the England squad by coach Gareth Southgate for the upcoming Nations League ties in Croatia and Spain after missing the Reds' last two games and believed to have been troubled by a groin injury in recent months.

Although it is not understood to be serious injury, it is inhibitive enough have prevented Lingard from training.

It has restricted him to one 90-minute outing for United this season. He did not travel to Bern for their Champions League group opener with Young Boys and was unavailable for last week's defeat at West Ham the Tuesday night draw with Valencia.

United manager Jose Mourinho left Lingard out of the matchday 18 for their first Premier League game against Leicester on August 10 but brought him on for the second half in the 3-1 debacle at Brighton nine days later. …
