CITY could really light the Blue touchpaper on their season by ending their 15-year Anfield curse.

Midfield ace Bernardo Silva believes that victory in the clash of the top two could be the starting point of another astonishing City run.

They went to Stamford Bridge last season and outplayed the reigning champions, winning 1-0 and instilling a self-belief which helped carry them to the title.

Bernardo feels a win on Merseyside would have a similar effect.

"It's still early in the season, with a lot of points to be played for," he said. "But if we beat them we'll be in a good place to go on a similar path to last season. It's still early, but of course we want to go there and win."

Anfield remains the only ground at which City have not won since their 2008 takeover - and their sole win in the last 37 years came in 2003, courtesy of two Nicolas Anelka goals. …
