ST. JOHN'S, N.L. x-13s. Sexual assault victims may soon be able to report attacks to police through third parties in Newfoundland and Labrador. The initiative is part of a growing trend in Canada to find new ways to empower victims. A designated group like a women's shelter would take someone's account and file an anonymous report with the police. Linda Ross of the Committee on Violence Against Women and Girls said the initiative is one way of giving victims control over their story without using their names.
