Thomas Cook sent its first flight from Manchester to Marrakesh this weekend.

The first flight took off on Sunday, after the holiday firm added the popular destination to its line up for this winter. The new twice-weekly flights will depart every Wednesday and Sunday.

Marrakesh is famous for its expansive markets, bustling city life and snowcapped Atlas mountains. Holidaymakers can choose from six hotels across Marrakesh, including the Thomas Cook own-brand SENTIDO Kenzi Menara Palace.

Christoph Debus, CEO of Thomas Cook Airlines, said: "We are always very pleased to launch new routes from Manchester, and with flights available twice a week throughout the winter and summer there's never been a better time to jet off to Morocco. Our overall capacity for Manchester is now over 3m which is fantastic for local holidaymakers looking for a winter break this year. …
