ST. LOUIS - Three people were killed in separate shootings Monday evening within about mile in northwest St. Louis.

The shootings happened in a five-hour span in or on the edge of the Hamilton Heights neighborhood. They bring to six the number of homicides linked to the neighborhood this year.

The first shooting Monday was about 5:14 p.m. at Martin Luther King Drive and Hodiamont Avenue. Responding officers found a male victim shot. He was not conscious or breathing when he was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The shooting scene on Martin Luther King Drive was on the border of the Hamilton Heights and Wells Goodfellow neighborhoods.

Police responded to a second shooting call about 6:45 p.m. in the 1400 block of Belt Avenue, about a mile southeast of Hodiamont and Martin Luther King. …
