A LATE-night bar in the city centre has closed just 10 months after it opened.

The Lazy Lizard closed for 'refurbishment and re-branding' at the weekend, with Saturday's Sanction event the final night to be held at The Printworks-based venue.

It is not clear if or when it will reopen. The club's parent company MAD Ltd, which also owns popular Northern Quarter venues including Rosylee, Walrus, Tusk and Hula, said in a statement that anyone who has booked tickets for forthcoming events will be refunded.

A message on the club's Facebook page reads: "Lazy Lizard hosted many events for different promoters, and these promoters are now looking for alternative venues for their nights. These promoters will be in touch soon with details of where their respective nights will now be held. …
