Swinton to Face Just 12 Men as Workington Struggle to Find Players

LESS than 24 hours after the final whistle is blown at Old Trafford this evening, the final match of the 2018 season will be held - and the stakes are arguably even higher.

Swinton welcome Workington Town to Heywood Road at 3pm tomorrow afternoon for a winner-takes-all play-off to determine the final side in next season's Championship.

This remarkable one-off fixture was only added to the schedule following the RFL Council EGM last month and features the Lions as the bottom-placed side in this year's second tier against League 1 Workington, who were defeated in a promotion play-off against Bradford Bulls last weekend.

Town coach Leon Pryce had warned in advance he would struggle to raise a side as the majority of his players had booked holidays on the basis their season would be well over. …
