Diocese puts pastor on leave over allegations

Bishop David Zubik has put a priest on leave after an allegation of abuse of a minor, the Diocese of Pittsburgh announced Saturday.

The Rev. Joseph Reschick, 67, who has been serving as pastor of St. Rosalia Parish in Greenfield, is accused of sexual abuse of a minor in the 1980s, according to a release from the diocese. The allegation has been referred to law enforcement. Father Reschick denies the allegation, the diocese said.

Priests on administrative leave may not dress as or present themselves as priests or engage in public ministry.

Bishop Zubik has sent letters to parishes in which Father Reschick has served.

The number to call to report allegations of abuse is 1-800-808-1235.
