(WEA-Tropical-Weather-Michael)

Residents of Mexico Beach, Florida who stayed during Wednesday's landfall hit by a Category-4 hurricane Michael are emerging from the debris with harrowing tales.

Others, who evacuated their homes, are realizing that much of their beachfront community was destroyed.

Slammed head-on by the most powerful storm to hit the continental U-S in over 50 years, numerous homes in the Gulf Coast resort town of 12-hundred were shattered or ripped from their foundations.

At least three deaths are blamed on Michael.

The now downgraded tropical storm continues to spread high winds, rain and flash-flooding misery in Virginia as it heads to an expected exit across the open Atlantic and may track south of Nova Scotia later today.(1)

The latest order issued Thursday affects residents on two islands in the Peace River just west of town.

Anyone who enters or refuses to leave the area after 6 a-m today could face up to a year in jail or a 10-thousand-dollar fine.(1)
