Neymar Defends Blues Forward as He Ends Goal Drought

NEYMAR has leapt to the defence of Gabriel Jesus after the Manchester City forward ended his international goal drought on Friday night.

Jesus scored his first goal for Brazil since June as his country secured a 2-0 victory over Saudi Arabia in Riyadh.

It was a moment of relief for the City forward after a difficult summer in which he faced media scrutiny for his poor showing at the World Cup in Russia.

The 21-year-old was questioned by large sections of supporters for his poor international displays and Neymar believes his friend was subject of 'unfair criticism' over the summer.

"I was very happy to have assisted Gabriel Jesus," Neymar said after the win.

"I think there was an unfair criticism on him, for all the work he did for us, for everything he asked for. …
