Artists Invited to Be Buzzing with Ideas for £22K Blank Bee

THIS giant blank bee statue fetched a whopping £22,000 at a charity auction - now its owners need your help to decorate it.

They are asking creative-minded M.E.N. readers to come up with designs for the sculpture.

Julie and James Featherstone, from Altrincham, walked away with the white bee at the Bee in The City auction on Wednesday night.

It was one of 78 statues sold to raise money for the We Love MCR charity, which supports community initiatives across the region.

Other included a Rock'N'Roll bee, co-designed by Liam Gallagher and Julie Dodd, and 'Industrious' - a colourful creation celebrating Manchester's proud industrial history.

A total of £1m was raised when the bees, which featured in the popular Bee In The City Trail over the summer, were auctioned off.

Business owners Julie, 41, and James, 38, took home two of the statues. …
