CITY Women's boss Nick Cushing feels the matchwinning form of Georgia Stanway is a reward for the club's policy of giving youth its head.

Stanway, 19, bagged a hat-trick in City's 5-0 thumping of Brighton & Hove Albion Women that sent them second in FA Women's Super League.

Cushing claims the teenager's influential displays are a product of a system that has accelerated the development of Keira Walsh, 21, with 18-year-old Esme Morgan next in line.

"We've had Georgia now for two seasons and we've adopted that approach of allowing her to go into games and make mistakes," said Cushing. "We've allowed her to go through difficult moments, but she's developed well and the performances are showing.

"We are trying to do that with Esme now and putting her in these games where she's going to find it really difficult and it's going to stress her a lot. …
