THE FA is awaiting the referee's report before deciding whether any further action is warranted against United manager Jose Mourinho over the unsavoury scenes on the touchline at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The Reds boss took exception to the way Chelsea coach Marco Ianni celebrated Ross Barkley's late equaliser, prompting a melee around the tunnel.

Mourinho received an apology from Ianni and Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri and said he considers the matter closed, but it remains to be seen whether the FA opts to take further action over the incident.

The Reds boss will hope that the referee's report does not incriminate him in proceedings, as he is due to answer a separate charge for comments he is alleged to have made after the comeback win over Newcastle.

He has until an extended deadline of 6pm on Wednesday to respond to that charge of 'abusive and/or insulting and/ or improper' language. …
