The Roman Catholic Diocese of Greensburg announced to its parishes in Uniontown on Sunday that a priest who is facing allegations of sexual abuse predating his entry into the priesthood will not be returning to active ministry.

In August, the diocese said it had substantiated an allegation dating back five decades against the Rev. James W. Clark.

Father Clark has been under suspension since June once the diocese learned of the allegation on June 28.

In a statement, the diocese said the allegation against Father Clark "has been found to be both credible and substantiated. Because this allegation has been substantiated, Father Clark will not be permitted to return to ministry in the Diocese of Greensburg or in any other diocese. That means he will not be allowed to present himself as a priest, nor function publicly in ministry. …
