Passenger Critically Injured in Crash after Driver Flees St. Louis Police Stop

ST. LOUIS - A car fleeing a traffic stop crashed Monday night in the Gravois Park neighborhood, critically injuring a passenger in the suspect's car.

Police say they weren't chasing the car when it crashed.

After the car crashed, police arrested the driver using a stun gun. On Tuesday, William Davis, 36, was charged with fleeing, armed criminal action and leaving the scene of an accident.

The name of the critically injured passenger, a 34-year-old man, had not been released.

The car crashed about 9:10 p.m. Monday in the 3700 block of Oregon Avenue.

Police say officers on patrol saw a 2013 Chevrolet Impala commit a traffic violation at Meramec and Nebraska avenues. The department didn't specify what the traffic violation was.

The officers turned on the patrol car's lights and siren to try to pull the car over, but the driver sped away, police say. …
