Long after the trick or treating has finished on the city's streets, the nightlife will keep running until dawn.

Here are a few parties you can book now for Halloween and the neighbouring weekends.

¦ HALLOWEEN PARTY THE PEN & PENCIL The Northern Quarter venue will have a free make-up artist to creep up your face tomorrow night. The party runs until 2am, with £5 cocktails.

¦ GOTHIC GLAMOUR AT THE ANTHOLOGIST Taking place on Halloween itself - this year a Wednesday - The Anthologist will throw a very glamorous bash indeed.

There'll be champagne and themed cocktails flowing all night, and 'gothic glamour' is the encouraged dress code for fancy dress costumes.

The first ten people to book a table for ten or more will receive a free bottle of Veuve Cliquot on arrival.

It's 5.30pm until late and you can book your place by emailing: ¦ JAPANESE HORROR AT COTTONOPOLIS Cottonopolis is hosting a very special Halloween event this year - complete with a special food menu.

The evening of silent Japanese horror films and scores starts at 7pm on Friday, November 2. Themed food includes frogs legs katsu, chicken heart yakitori, and spider crab maki rolls - though the full menu is available if that's too much for you.

¦ PETER SCARY KITCHEN AT PETER STREET KITCHEN The newly-opened Peter Street Kitchen has teamed up with champagne brand Moet & Chandon for a themed dinner with an after-party.

Your evening will begin at 8pm on Friday, November 2, with a glass of fizz followed by a selection of small plates and cocktails. Then there will be live entertainment and a DJ to take you into the dead of night.
