Ashton Free of Ban 'Frustration'

CHRIS ASHTON took out his frustration on Connacht on Saturday after having to wait seven weeks for his Sale Sharks debut.

The England wing had to sit out the start of the season after his ban for a tip-tackle in the pre-season friendly against Castres.

But, having signed from French side Toulon this summer, he made Connacht pay in Saturday's European Challenge Cup clash at the AJ Bell Stadium with a stunning hat-trick.

He now misses tonight's Premiership Cup opener at Worcester because he is with the England squad in Portugal training ahead of the autumn internationals.

But Ashton admits finally getting out on the park in Sale colours was a big relief.

"It had been quite frustrating not being able to play, so I was really happy to be back, especially at a home game," said Ashton. …
