Trevor Harris threw three touchdown passes as the Ottawa Redblacks clinched first in the East Division with a 30-13 road win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on a cold, wet and windy night. Ottawa earned its fifth straight win at Tim Hortons Field and swept the three-game season series with Hamilton. More importantly, the Redblacks captured first in the East for the third time in four years.

Nicklas Backstrom scored the winner in a shootout and goaltender Pheonix Copley earned his first win for the Washington Capitals in a 4-3 win over the Calgary Flames. Matthew Tkachuk (kah-CHUK'), Travis Hamonic and Elias Lindholm countered for the Flames in regulation, who lost their third in a row.

Leon Draisaitl (DRY'-sait-uhl) and Drake Caggiula (kuh-JOO'-luh) each scored twice and the Edmonton Oilers ended a 13-game losing streak against Nashville with a 5-3 victory. Connor McDavid also scored for the Oilers. Edmonton was 0-11-2 in its previous 13 games against the Predators.
