Shakers Not Nasty Enough Says Keeper Murphy after Port Vale Loss

BURY goalkeeper Joe Murphy has asked for his defence to start being 'nastier' with each other during matches following his side's 1-0 defeat to Port Vale on Saturday.

The Shakers were in control for much of the game at Vale Park registering 22 shots in total, but it was the hosts who scored the only goal through former striker Tom Pope with their only shot on target.

It was a similar story to that of recent games against Crewe Alexandra and Newport County where they managed 21 and 15 shots respectively, but failed to gain the three points that their attacking prowess deserved.

And with each of their opponents in those games registering no more than five and still getting a result, Murphy revealed that this defeat in particular highlighted that improvements also need to be made in the defensive third. …
