Attackers Beat Man on MetroLink Train in St. Louis, and Dragged Him Back When He Tried to Escape

ST. LOUIS - A man attacked while riding MetroLink tried to crawl away after being stomped and punched, but his attackers pulled him back onto the train so he couldn't escape.

One of the attackers even stole the wallet of the victim, 45, who suffered scrapes and abrasions, according to court documents.

The attack was Oct. 2 and ended at the Eighth and Pine streets stop, where police were called. A surveillance video supports the victim's account, police say.

On Wednesday, St. Louis prosecutors charged Ernest Darnell Johnson, 20, with second-degree robbery and second-degree kidnapping. Johnson's bail was set at $100,000, cash only.

It wasn't immediately clear whether any co-defendants had been charged.
