Petit Blasts 'Shameful' Reds after Cherries First Half

UNITED have been hammered for a 'shameful' first-half performance against Bournemouth by former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit.

Chris Smalling described the opening 45 minutes against Eddie Howe's side as the 'worst half of the season' and Jose Mourinho's side were lucky to go in all square at the break. And Petit, who left Chelsea before Mourinho arrived as manager in 2004, said he felt 'ashamed' watching the first half.

"The game against Bournemouth after 30 minutes I was ashamed for the United players. I was ashamed for this mythical club, I was ashamed for its history, I was ashamed for Mourinho, I was ashamed for his staff, I thought to myself, but what is this a team of good for nothings," he told RMC Sport. The former France international took exception to the performances of Nemanja Matic and Chris Smalling as he assessed the game on French television. …
