1991 November 5: Fireworks light up the sky at the Pyramid Park playing fields in Bury on a crisp autumn night.

Spectators marvelled at the 45ft Catherine Wheel as well as numerous rockets, aerial shells and ground-based set-pieces.

Major displays also took place at Manchester parks - and continue to do so to this day. One of the biggest celebrations is at Heaton Park, which features a funfair as well as a traditional bonfire.

1981 November 1: Pop legends the Bee Gees left the USA to move back to the UK in 1981 - and their first port of call was the former family home in Keppel Road, Chorlton cum Hardy.

The Gibb brothers Barry, Maurice and Robin met the current resident Mr Peter Bartsoiewicz and his racing pigeons.

The brothers, who went to Oswald Road Primary School, formed their first group The Rattlesnakes before the family emigrated to Australia in August 1958. …
