Dale Manager Says His Side Must Go into FA Cup Clash as Underdogs

KEITH Hill says Rochdale need to go into tomorrow's FA Cup match with Gateshead believing they are the underdogs.

League One Dale travel to the National League side in the first round, determined not to become victims of a giantkilling.

And Hill believes the best way of doing that is to ensure they give Gateshead, who lie eighth in their league, full respect.

The Rochdale boss said: "We're looking forward to it, we're well prepared. We've got to treat the FA Cup and the opponents in the FA Cup with respect and go into the game believing we are the underdogs.

"We're prepared for whatever the opposition bring to the table.

"I'm just looking for an honest performance from the players."

Hill led Dale to a fifth round replay with Tottenham last season and when asked why Rochdale have been successful in the competition in recent years, Hill said: "Honesty, respect, and making sure we don't underestimate the opponents. …
