Paras Give Helping Hand to Veteran's Cenotaph Salute

THE heartwarming moment two paratroopers helped a World War Two veteran to his feet so he could show his respects on Armistice Day were captured on film.

A video clip shows younger paras John Price and Kieran Mcgurk walking to the Manchester Cenotaph carrying a poppy wreath.

When they arrived to the memorial in St Peter's Square they came across elderly veteran Ray Shuck who was also showing his respects alongside his family.

Ray, 95, was a paratrooper for The Parachute Regiment during the Second World War.

The two paras are seen to ask the family if they could help Ray to his feet, which the veteran agrees to.

The video - which can be seen on the M.E.N.'s webiste - shows them helping him stand up, while Ray enthusiastically salutes the Cenotaph and says 'God Bless you' while a crowd applauds. …
