1971 November 15: Well-known stage, film and TV actress Fenella Fielding plays the title role in a new production of Colette at Manchester's Opera House.

Fielding, famous for her distinctive husky voice, starred in two Carry On films - Carry On Regardless in 1961 and Carry On Screaming in 1966.

She also made four appearances on the Morecambe and Wise Show between 1969 and 1972 and was a regular on BBC TV's The Good Old Days, hosted by Leonard Sachs.
