CELEBRITIES - CALIFORNIA WILDFIRE ZONE

LOS ANGELES (AP) _ Most people fancy celebrities as living a charmed life. But when it comes to the ravages of the California wildfires, the flames aren't playing favourites. Many celebrities who live in the exclusive area of Malibu have joined their less-affluent neighbours in fleeing their homes as the flames neared. Among those who have had to bail include Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian West and Martin Sheen. Alyssa Milano tweeted over the weekend that her house was "in jeopardy" -- and later said "house is still standing," though still in the danger zone. Some of the celebrities in the area took to social media to thank the firefighters who have been struggling mightily to contain the infernos. Says movie director Guillermo del Toro on Twitter of first responders, "these guys are heroes."

BOX OFFICE

LOS ANGELES (AP) _ A Christmas themed movie has captured the top spot at the box office. The new number one is "Dr. Seuss' The Grinch," which took in 66-million over the weekend. The movie overcame mixed reviews to end "Bohemian Rhapsody's" one-week run as the nation's top movie. The film story of the rock band Queen took in 30.8-million over the weekend. And while that wasn't enough to hold the lead for a second week, it did take the movie's overall haul to 100-million. Number three at the multiplex over the weekend was "Overlord," followed by "The Nutcracker and the Four Realms" and "The Girl in the Spider's Web."
