THE husband of Rachael Bland has opened up for the first time about how he and his son are coping following his wife's death.

The BBC presenter died, aged just 40, in September following a two-year battle with breast cancer.

The newsreader, who lived in Cheshire, worked on BBC Radio 5 Live and also co-hosted award-winning podcast called You, Me and the Big C, which was about living with terminal cancer.

Her husband Steve has now spoken for the first time since losing his wife and mother of their three-year-old son Freddie.

Mr Bland revealed to podcast hosts Lauren Mahon and Deborah James the heartbreaking words his son said to him after he broke down in tears following Rachael's passing.
