UNITED manager Jose Mourinho joked it was the weather that took him to Belgium to watch Roberto Martinez's side take on Iceland.

Mourinho was spotted in the stands as Belgium ran out 2-0 winners at the Heysel Stadium but left the ground on 65 minutes.

A reporter waiting outside the stadium asked the United manager what had brought him to 'misty Belgium' and the Portuguese joked that it was the weather before laughing and getting in his car.

It is not known who Mourinho was watching, but he wasn't on a preparation mission for United's next games as no Crystal Palace or Southampton players were involved.

The Reds' two Belgian players Romelu Lukaku and Marouane Fellaini were also missing. Lukaku was ruled out of the game with a hamstring injury while Fellaini hasn't travelled after reportedly playing through an injury in the derby defeat. …
