WHL: Dewar leads Silvertips past Winterhawks

EVERETT, Wash. - Connor Dewar scored in regulation time and then again in the shootout as the Everett Silvertips slipped past the Portland Winterhawks 3-2 on Wednesday in Western Hockey League action.

Riley Sutter also scored in the shootout for Everett (15-6-0), while Bryce Kindopp had a first-period goal. Dustin Wolf made 39 saves and stopped two of three skaters in the shootout.

Reece Newkirk and Ryan Hughes scored for the Winterhawks (12-6-2) in a 41-second span in the third period. Joachim Blichfeld had a goal in the shootout.

Shane Farkas turned aside 41 shots for Portland.

The Silvertips went 2 for 3 on the power play and the Winterhawks were 0 for 3 with the man advantage.
