MANAGER Graham Alexander believes he saw glimpses of his side's best form after Salford City extended their unbeaten league run to 17 games with a convincing 4-0 win over Aldershot Town.

An Adam Rooney hat-trick and a Carl Piergianni header ended a run of two successive draws at the Peninsula Stadium and moved the Ammies up to second in the Vanerama National League.

Alexander said: "I'm delighted with the result. We had to make sure we got the three points first and foremost, but we wanted to do it in a good way and we certainly did.

"The players have been working exceptionally hard after a couple of frustrating home draws. We want to be the best we can be and I thought we were like that at times." Salford got off to the perfect start, after a fierce cross in from Ibou Touray was finished off ferociously by Rooney. …
