Notre Dame Holds off Duquesne Visiting Dukes Take Second-Half Lead but Crumble under 13-0 Irish Run

John Mooney had 16 points and 10 rebounds, Prentiss Hubb added a career-high 14 points and Notre Dame had to battle to turn back Duquesne, 67-56, Tuesday night in Notre Dame, Ind.

The Irish (4-1) blew a 12-point first-half lead and trailed 52-51 with 7:09 remaining before going on a 13-0 run for a 64-52 advantage with 1:19 remaining. Mooney contributed five points and Rex Plueger four during the stretch. T.J. Gibbs scored seven of his 11 points in the second half for Notre Dame.

Duquesne (3-1) was bidding for its first 4-0 start in nine seasons. Tavian Dunn-Martin led the Dukes with 14 points, and Michael Hughes added 10.Eric Williams Jr. and Sincere Carry, who went into the game averaging a combined 30.3 points, were held to five, all by Williams, and shot a combined 1 of 16 from the field.

The Dukes lost the first of just three chances they'll get this season against Power Five programs. …
