Man Attacked St. Louis County Officer, Took Her Taser before Standoff, Police Say

NORTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY - A man wanted on a parole violation attacked a St. Louis County officer and took her Taser on Tuesday before she fired a gunshot, sending him fleeing to a nearby apartment where he holed up for several hours.

The officer suffered a head injury and was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said. Her wounds were not life-threatening.

The suspect, who was not injured, was arrested after a standoff in an apartment complex near Lucas & Hunt Road and Interstate 70 about 3 p.m., four hours after the initial encounter.

The Central County Precinct officer had been patrolling the Burrwood Apartment Complex in the 5300 block of Gladstone Place when she saw a man she knew was wanted for a parole violation in connection with a robbery, police said.

She got out of her patrol car, and the man immediately approached and began attacking her, police said. …
