Mccandless Police Chief, Lieutenant Are Those Placed on Leave in Probe

McCandless officials last month placed the town's police chief and a lieutenant on leave pending an investigation that's ongoing four weeks later, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette has confirmed.

Chief David R. DiSanti Sr. and Lt. Jeffrey Basl were placed on paid administrative leave Oct. 26.

Municipal officials have refused to say what the investigation is about or who was placed on leave, although the town confirmed Oct. 29 that an investigation was underway involving two members of the police department in a "personnel matter."

Officials would not say who was running the police department while the investigation continued, but the Post-Gazette has confirmed that Lt. Don O'Connor was put in charge in the chief's absence.
