St. Louis Man Facing Charges in Third Murder Case over Three Decades

ST. LOUIS - A man facing a murder charge in the 2017 shooting death of a woman whose body was found dumped in a Metro East landfill has been charged in a 2016 killing in St. Louis.

Paulren Stepter, 52, of the 6100 block of Laura Avenue, was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the Dec. 23, 2016, death of Arnold Adams. Adams, 40, was found fatally shot about 6:30 a.m. at Martin Luther King Drive and North Cardinal Avenue in the Jeff-Vander-Lou neighborhood.

Witnesses said Adams was last seen at a nearby convenience store in an argument with a woman, who later contacted Stepter, her uncle, about the fight, charging documents say. Witnesses said that shortly after the altercation, a man came to the store, asked "Where is he at?" and confronted Adams outside. Witnesses at the store told police there were several gunshots outside and someone matching Stepter's description fled. …
