SALFORD CITY 3 HARROGATE 2 SALFORD City closed the gap to National League leaders Leyton Orient to a point after an entertaining 3-2 win over Harrogate Town at the Peninsula Stadium last night.

The visitors went ahead through Jack Muldoon, but Danny Whitehead responded for the Ammies with an excellent strike.

Salford fell behind again when Liam Kitching headed in, but Graham Alexander's side fought back as top scorer Adam Rooney made it 2-2. A well-planned set-piece finished off by Rory Gaffney in the second half secured the points and saw Salford extend their undefeated record in the league to 19 games.

Harrogate took the lead in the opening eight minutes as Muldoon got on the end of Kitching's cross with a slight touch off his head.

Salford were level three minutes later as Whitehead drilled a low 25-yard shot which creeped in at the right post past keeper James Belshaw. …
