JLL expanding downtown office - Commercial real estate firm JLL is expanding in downtown St. Louis by moving its Clayton office to the Met Square building, where it has a current office.

The Chicago-based firm has about 150 employees in the St. Louis area.

JLL is property manager for the 42-story One Metropolitan Square office tower at the corner of North Broadway and Olive Street, where JLL's brokerage, property management and project development services divisions are based on the 20th floor. The firm said Wednesday that it planned to relocate its valuation and advisory services division from Clayton in January. JLL will move to a new custom office on the 29th floor as part of the consolidation.

"One Metropolitan Square has served us well for as long as we've been in St. Louis, so it makes sense to consolidate our operations and bring all of our service lines and employees here under one roof," David Steinbach, managing director of JLL's St. Louis office, said in a statement. "We see great things happening downtown and we are proud to recommit to an area that we consider to be the core of the St. Louis metropolitan region."

A new $2.5 million downtown food hall opened on the ground floor of Met Square last January with multiple restaurant tenants.

Steinbach said new upgrades to the Met Square tower would be announced soon.

Chico's plunges on earnings miss, brand chief's exit - Chico's FAS Inc. stock plummeted 35 percent after third-quarter results missed analysts' expectations.

Comparable sales fell 6.8 percent compared with the year-ago period, while analysts surveyed by Consensus Metrix had projected only a 2.1 percent decline. At namesake Chico's stores, the decline was even steeper at 10.2 percent. The retailer also cut its forecast for full-year sales and said the president of the Chico's brand was departing this week as part of its goal to "reinvigorate broad-based consumer excitement and growth for the brand. …
