Doctors and Nurses Quizzed over Fergie's Medical Records

SEVERAL staff at Salford Royal are reportedly being quizzed for illegally accessing Sir Alex Ferguson's medical records as he lay fighting for life in hospital.

Health chiefs confirmed an investigation was under way into the allegations.

We have According to The Sunday Times, the breach was uncovered following an audit of Salford Royal Hospital's computer system.

the their Dr Chris Two doctors, a senior consultant, and two nurses are understood to be involved.

Sir Alex was admitted to the hospital in May after suffering a brain haemorrhage. He underwent emergency surgery then spent time recovering on the wards.

Dr Chris Brookes, chief medical officer for the Northern Care Alliance NHS Group, which runs Salford Royal, said the hospital has "apologised unreservedly" to the patient and their family for what happened.

He told the M.E.N.: "We can confirm that a number of staff who work at Salford Royal are currently subject to investigation in relation to an information governance breach. "These investigations are ongoing with the individuals concerned and are to determine if they have accessed a patient's record electronically without a clinical requirement or authorisation to do so. …
