GOURMET Burger Kitchen bosses have confirmed its Trafford Centre site is to stay open.

It follows weeks of uncertainty over the future of the popular restaurant because of financial troubles at the chain.

In October GBK chiefs revealed it was undergoing a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) to gain approval from creditors as part of a strategy to close 17 of its 80 locations, affecting 250 jobs.

Last week, the first wave of closures started to appear.

Branches in Hull, Hanley and Leicester were among those which closed, and the chain has still not released a full list of where will be affected. However, it has now confirmed to the M.E.N. that the Trafford Centre branch will stay open. In a statement following a meeting of creditors who approved the CVA plan, Derrian Nadauld MD of Gourmet Burger Kitchen said: "We'd like to thank the landlord community, our trade suppliers and our restaurant teams for their support through a challenging process. …
