4 Jailed in Killing over Stolen Pot Bong

A West View man charged in connection with a 2017 shooting in Ben Avon during a dispute over a stolen bong pleaded guilty Wednesday to third-degree murder and was sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison as part of a deal with prosecutors.

Gregg Scholze, 21, also pleaded guilty to a firearms violation in the Jan. 27, 2017, slaying of Kyle Stauber.

Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Alexander P. Bicket tacked on five years of probation to Scholze's sentence.

Three other co-defendants charged with robbery in connection with the incident all pleaded guilty to one count each of robbery and conspiracy.

John Pignanelli, 27, of West View was sentenced to seven to 16 years in prison plus 10 years of probation; Kayla Naper, 21, also of West View, was sentenced to 3½ to 7 years in prison plus five years of probation; and Daijon Arnett, 22, of Marshall-Shadeland, received the same sentence as Naper. …
