Enterprise Partnering with GM to Add 100,000 Tech-Connected Cars to Its Fleet

Enterprise Holdings is partnering with General Motors to add more than 100,000 tech-connected cars to its fleet that can automatically transmit fuel level information to branches, among other features.

Clayton-based Enterprise, the world's largest rental car company with a fleet of 2 million vehicles, said Wednesday that it began piloting its connectivity platform with GM this year.

Enterprise plans to add more than 100,000 connected Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles to its fleet during the next 12 months, with the goal of ultimately transitioning its entire fleet to connected vehicles. Enterprise's brands include Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car.

The new connected features could expedite the renting and returning of vehicles for customers by automating tasks including checking fuel levels, vehicle condition and odometer readings. …
