Drug Dealer Pleads Guilty West End Gang Member among 2 Dozen Indicted

The first member of a violent West End drug gang indicted with fanfare in the summer has admitted to his role in cocaine dealing.

Bryan Smith, a member of the Greenway Boy Killas, pleaded guilty in federal court Monday to conspiring to distribute crack.

U.S. District Judge Arthur Schwab will sentence him in May.

Smith, 24, was among about two dozen reputed gangsters whose indictment in June was announced at FBI headquarters following a wiretap investigation into drug trafficking and related crimes in the former Greenway housing project. Authorities dubbed their investigation "Operation Gang Green."

Agents and police said the gang's drug operation had long been fueling violence in the housing community, now known as the Mountainview Apartments and a neighboring set of units in Crafton Heights. …
