Change 'To Put Smiles Back on People's Faces' at United

UNITED players were 'happy' to discover Jose Mourinho had been sacked by executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward yesterday morning.

The Reds squad had Monday off and Mourinho travelled to London to spend time with his family, while Woodward attended the first half of the academy team's enthralling FA Youth Cup victory over Chelsea at Leigh Sports Village on Monday night.

Mourinho arrived at the club's Carrington training ground yesterday morning to take training but was informed in person by Woodward that he was to be dismissed.

A dressing room source said the players were 'happy' upon being told of the managerial change and look forward to a more adventurous playing style. High-level sources claim the change of manager was partly made to 'put smiles back on people's faces' at the club after the turbulent Mourinho tenure. …
