Sterling Tweet Praised by Boss for Growing Maturity

WHILE many footballers use social media to post pictures of their latest holiday or advertise their latest sponsorship deal, Raheem Sterling this week took to Twitter to fight to save a community centre.

Brent council's Twitter feed has almost certainly never been busier. Sterling's tweet demanding answers to his bid to save Bridge Park Leisure Centre had more than 1,000 retweets and 5,000 likes - and rising.

Sterling said the centre was a 'key part of my childhood' and he is keen to open a football academy in the area. And Pep Guardiola believes the social media message is a sign of Sterling's growing maturity on and off the pitch.

"The gesture speaks for itself. If he's more mature, sure in a few years will be more mature too. It's an incredible gesture," he said.

"These kind of things are always going to come back in his private life, his own life, with the family in a positive way. …
