with the poem of the week.

I notice,

after a litany of atrocities,

the poem's energy is in

the last five lines.

Larry reads them out loud:

Israeli

snipers in Gaza target

three unarmed boys

protesting at the border, killing

all three, their catch of the day.

Their catch of the day?

I say, this makes me sick.

Is that what this writer thinks

of the Jews he knows?

That most Jewish Israelis happily

kill unarmed boys.

Does he know

that the Israel supreme court

doubled the prison sentence

of border policeman, Ben Drey,

who shot and killed

Palestinian teenagers

during the Nakbu Day riot?

Does he imagine that

Jews who read his poem

in the Post-Gazette

would support leniency for Elor Azari,

the other policeman

who used real bullets

when he was instructed

to use rubber bullets? …
