Mariner East Pipeline Goes into Service

Dallas-based Energy Transfer LP announced that its Mariner East 2 natural gas liquids pipeline was placed into service on Saturday.

Mariner East 2, which is part of Energy Transfer's Mariner East pipeline system, will remove natural gas liquids for the Marcellus and Utica Shale production areas in Eastern Ohio, West Virginia and Western Pennsylvania.

"We are pleased to learn that the Mariner East 2 pipeline has been placed into service and is now safely transporting valuable domestic energy resources from the the Marcellus and Utica Shale production areas to important consumer markets via the Marcus Hook Industrial Complex," said Craig Stevens, a spokesman for the GAIN Coalition.

Tom Hogan, Chester County's district attorney, has said he is opening a criminal investigation on three Mariner East natural gas liquids pipelines, which have drawn blame for causing sinkholes and polluting drinking water and waterways.The Mariner East projects stretch for 300 miles across southern Pennsylvania.

General faces charges

A retired Army general will face trial in Virginia on charges of rape and incest beginning in April, according to court documents filed in the case.

James J. Grazioplene, a retired two-star officer, was charged by a grand jury in December with three counts of rape and three counts of incest in Prince William General District Court. A Feb. 1 pretrial hearing has been set, with the trial scheduled to begin April 29.

The Army was planning to court-martial Gen. Grazioplene, 69, in the spring of 2018, but the charges were dismissed in March after a ruling by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces in another case effectively limited the statute of limitations in the case to five years. …
