Solskjaer Blocks Loans to Keep the Kids at Home

OLE Gunnar Solskjaer has blocked loan moves some United youngsters had lined up amid plans to give them more firstteam exposure.

M.E.N. Sport understands Angel Gomes was among the U23 players prepared to embark on a mid-season loan to get regular football in the January transfer window.

However, Solskjaer has cancelled proposed arrangements as he wants more youngsters to train with the senior squad.

Gomes, 18, was included in Solskjaer's first travelling squad at Cardiff and cameoed in the Boxing Day win over Huddersfield.

The England U17 World Cup winner became United's fifthyoungest player two seasons ago at the age of 16 years and 263 days old but could enjoy more minutes during Solskjaer's caretaker stint.

Tahith Chong, 19, flew to Newcastle with the United squad and also did not make the bench yet United host Reading, second from bottom in the Championship, in their FA Cup third round tie today and Solskjaer could promote more rookies to the matchday squad. …
