CITY manager Pep Guardiola said there is 'no chance' Phil Foden will leave the club on loan this month.

The Stockport-born youngster was handed a rare start in the Blues' 7-0 FA Cup victory over Rotherham yesterday and scored his first Etihad goal shortly before half-time.

Guardiola was asked in his post-match press conference about the possibility of Foden leaving this month in search of regular game time and was bemused by the question.

"No way," the Catalan responded. "No, impossible. He is going to stay with us many, many years. Impossible."

Foden ghosted into the box to score City's second goal but there was an element of fortune to the teenager's strike, as his attempt to control Ilkay Gundogan's through ball turned into a guided finish.

Guardiola acknowledged the luck involved in the goal and said there is plenty of room for improvement in the midfielder's game. …
