WINNIPEG. x-14s. A report shows Indigenous people in Manitoba contribute billions of dollars to the economy. The report from organizations representing chiefs says spending by Indigenous people, businesses and governments totaled 9.3 billion dollars in 2016. It also says the Indigenous economy contributed 2.3 billion -- or almost four per cent -- to Manitoba's gross domestic product. M-K-O Grand Chief Garrison Settee says Indigenous activity in the economy should be acknowledged.
