Trump Still More Popular Than Not in Missouri as Shutdown Continues

WASHINGTON - More Missourians approve of President Donald Trump than disapprove of him, making the state one of 21 in which the president still has a positive rating, according to a year-end analysis by the public opinion site Morning Consult.

Trump had a 49 percent approval and 46 percent disapproval in Missouri, down from 53-34 at his inauguration two years ago this month, the survey says.

The analysis of all 50 states provides a data window into today's headlines, from the government shutdown to potential cracks in the Republican coalition in Congress that, for the most part, has stood fast with Trump in a fight over funding a border wall with Mexico. Republican senators up for re-election in 2020 who have been the most vocal in pushing for an end to the stalemate are in states where Trump's job approval has fallen significantly. …
